About StartDutch

StartDutch helps people prepare for the Dutch Inburgering / NT2 exam with more than 3,000 words (A1–B1) — each with audio and translations in six languages — plus dictation, grammar lessons and a mock exam.

How we build the content

Our vocabulary and grammar are grounded in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR/ERK) levels, and the exercises mirror the structure of the official Dutch civic-integration exam as set out by inburgeren.nl and DUO. Word lists are seeded from recognised A2 ERK and frequency sources rather than assembled ad hoc.

How translations are verified

Every word carries translations in English, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Turkish and Romanian. New or machine-assisted entries are flagged for review and held in an editorial verification queue before they are trusted — we would rather a translation be missing than wrong. We publish only what we can stand behind: we make no pass-rate guarantees and show no invented reviews.

What you can practise

  • Vocabulary — browse the full A1–B1 list with pronunciation and six-language meanings.
  • Dictation — type the Dutch word from its translation; mistakes are tracked and re-surfaced (spaced repetition).
  • Grammar — short lessons with quizzes on articles, word order, past tense and more.
  • Mock exam — a timed test that mirrors the real exam format.
